About the

March for Justice

Our History

The Legacy of the March

The March of Justice is rooted in the legacy of César Chávez, who believed in the power of ordinary people to create extraordinary change through non-violence, unity, and service.

From the grape boycotts of the 1960s to the farmworker marches across California, these actions inspired millions and reshaped labor rights in America. Through peaceful protest, Chávez and the United Farm Workers secured historic victories like the California Agricultural Labor Relations Act of 1975, the first law granting farmworkers the right to collective bargaining.
